Product information in V7 Check comes from two places. A product may use one, the other, or both. This page names those sources and, where they apply, the licences the work is provided under.

People using V7 Check photograph product packaging and contribute what is printed on it — the name, the ingredient list, the nutrition panel. Those contributions build the product entries you see, and anyone can add or correct one.

Community contributions are not covered by the Open Food Facts licences below. They are submitted under V7 Check's own Terms of Service.

Product information shown in V7 Check — product names, ingredient lists, nutrition values and related details — and images of product packaging may come from Open Food Facts, a collaborative, free and open database of food products built by volunteers around the world.

Where a product screen in the app shows information or an image from Open Food Facts, that screen names them and the licence that applies. Where a product's information or image was contributed through V7 Check instead, no Open Food Facts credit is shown, because none is owed.

Open Food Facts licences

• The database is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL) v1.0.
• Individual records within the database — the contents of a product entry — are made available under the Database Contents License (DbCL) v1.0.
• Product images are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 licence.

Product images

Some images of product packaging shown in V7 Check are copies of images published by Open Food Facts and taken by its contributors. They are served from V7 Check's own storage so the app can display them reliably and without exposing your device to a third-party host, but they remain the work of the people who took them and are used under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 licence above.

The Creative Commons licence covers the image itself and the rights of the contributor who took it. A product image may also show packaging, artwork or trademarks belonging to the product's manufacturer, which that licence does not cover and which remain the property of their owners.

Images contributed by V7 Check users are not covered by this section and carry no Open Food Facts credit.
